BARITE
CLEARING (ENERGETIC | FEAR (OVERCOMING) | POWER (PERSONAL) | VIBRATION (HIGH)
Barite is Barium Sulphate, and the name comes from the Greek for heavy. It is unusually dense for a pale, translucent mineral, about four and a half times heavier than water, and a piece feels noticeably weighty in the hand. The colour is usually white, colourless, pale yellow, blue or brown, depending on trace impurities, with a glassy to pearly lustre.
It forms in hydrothermal veins, in Limestone and Sandstone cavities, and around hot springs, where Barium-bearing fluids meet Sulphate and crystallise as they cool. Crystals are tabular or bladed and often grow in rosettes and crested clusters. It is commonly found with Fluorite, Calcite, Galena, Sphalerite and Quartz. Barite measures between 2.5 to 3 and a half on the Mohs scale.
Fine specimens come from England, Morocco, Romania, China, the United States and Peru.
