This specimen presents pale green Apophyllite crystals inter-grown with cream-coloured Stilbite in a complex three-dimensional formation.
The Apophyllite exhibits its characteristic glassy terminations throughout the cluster, while the Stilbite forms rounded, botryoidal masses that anchor and unite the crystalline structure. The specimen is mounted on a custom stand, allowing observation from multiple angles.
Green Apophyllite accounts for less than 5% of Apophyllite specimens found globally. The subtle aquamarine coloration results from trace inclusions of iron or nickel within the crystal lattice—an uncommon chromatic occurrence that distinguishes these specimens from the more prevalent colourless and white varieties.
The association of Apophyllite and Stilbite reflects specific hydrothermal conditions within ancient volcanic cavities. Both minerals crystallise from mineral-rich solutions that permeate basaltic rock over extended geological periods. In this specimen, the two minerals formed contemporaneously, their growth competing for space and creating the interlocking architecture visible throughout the cluster, a configuration that requires precise parameters of temperature, pressure, and chemical environment.
The name Apophyllite derives from the Greek apo and phyllon, meaning "to leaf apart," a reference to the mineral's exfoliation behaviour when heated. This property drew the attention of early mineralogists and led to its formal classification in 1806. Stilbite's massive, globular habit in this specimen contributes both structural integrity and mineralogical interest to the overall formation.
The cluster represents a natural record of prolonged geological processes, each crystal face formed through millions of years of subsurface mineral deposition within a basaltic void.
APOPHYLLITE (GREEN)
Green Apophyllite helps one to connect to the earth, nature and animals, attracting vitality, health and joy into one’s energy field. It encourages one to see the beauty that is all around us and to be grateful for being alive on this earth.
STILBITE
A beautiful stone that emanates unceasing joy. Assists one in making choices and decisions and encourages one to expand one’s mind and to approach tasks with an organised and positive frame of mind. An excellent stone for those who are restless at night. It has soft, delicate, calming, loving energy that can help one drift into sleep.
