Rather than emphasising brilliance through faceting, the piece celebrates the Diamond's natural geological character, displaying its irregular crystal faces, subtle translucency, and organic surface textures formed deep within the Earth.

Diamond is crystalline carbon, formed under extreme pressures and temperatures within the Earth's mantle at depths exceeding 140 kilometres. The rough crystal retains many of the natural growth features developed during its formation, including uneven crystal faces, surface etching, and internal inclusions that provide a direct connection to its geological origin. These characteristics distinguish natural rough Diamonds from their polished counterparts and make each specimen entirely unique.

Canadian Diamonds originate from ancient volcanic conduits known as Kimberlite pipes, which transported mantle-derived crystals rapidly to the Earth's surface. Most Canadian deposits occur within the billion-year-old rocks of the Canadian Shield, where Diamonds formed long before the eruption events that ultimately brought them within reach. This pendant preserves a rare example of Diamond in its natural state, highlighting both the mineral's remarkable geological history and its enduring appeal as Earth's hardest naturally occurring substance.
