This exquisite specimen presents fluorite at its most jewel-like, a single crystal of extraordinary clarity and chromatic complexity, its transparent body revealing internal colour zoning that shifts from water-clear to deep emerald green to subtle violet. Clusters of golden-bronze Zinnwaldite Mica cling to one face.
The internal architecture of this crystal tells a story of interrupted growth. A vivid green phantom zone floats suspended within the later clear-to-pale growth, creating the appearance of a crystal within a crystal. Subtle violet zones visible at certain angles add chromatic complexity, demonstrating the colour variability for which Fluorite is celebrated.
Namibia's Erongo Mountains have emerged as one of the world's premier sources for fine Fluorite specimens, the region's Granitic Pegmatites yielding material of exceptional clarity and crystal habit. The Erongo locality produces Fluorite in the distinctive octahedral and modified octahedral forms displayed here.
