Across the entire surface, individual Botryoids have been sectioned to expose their concentric ring structure. No two are identical. Where adjacent Botryoids have grown into and against one another, their banding systems collide and compress, creating compound patterns of considerable visual complexity. The overall effect is hundreds of discrete growth centres rendered simultaneously legible across the polished face.
The Democratic Republic of Congo's Katanga Copperbelt has produced the world's most significant Malachite deposits for over a century, the extraordinary copper concentrations of the region directly responsible for both the scale and the colour saturation of material of this quality.
