Moldavite is a natural tektite formed approximately 15 million years ago following a meteorite impact in Central Europe. The material developed through the rapid cooling of silica-rich terrestrial matter ejected during the impact event, producing its characteristic vitreous structure and translucent olive-green colouration.
This natural specimen preserves the irregular sculptural form and surface texture associated with authentic moldavite. The surface displays natural etching, pitting and flow structures created during rapid atmospheric cooling and solidification following the impact event.
Variations in translucency and internal structure remain visible throughout the formation, emphasising the extraterrestrial origin and natural formation process of the material. Untreated specimens of this quality and preservation are increasingly difficult to source.
