- This exceptional natural Quartz cluster originates from the Santander Province in the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia, a region renowned for its hydrothermal Quartz deposits. The specimen features lustrous, well-formed Quartz crystals that developed within cavities of metamorphic or igneous rock, where silica-rich fluids precipitated over geological time scales.
The cluster's distinctive colour comes from its secondary mineral coating of Hematite (Fe₂O₃) and Iron Oxide, which imparts warm pink and yellow tones to the cluster. This iron-bearing patina developed through subsequent oxidation processes, as iron-rich groundwater percolated through fractures in the host rock and deposited thin layers of Iron minerals onto the pre-existing quartz crystals.
The clarity of the quartz, visible beneath and between the iron staining, attests to the purity of the silica solutions from which these crystals grew.
