This exceptional Ukrainian Topaz sphere is increasingly rare, particularly of this quality. This sphere exhibits a pale blue and golden champagne zoning, with excellent transparency and vitreous lustre.
The Topaz occurs within Precambrian pegmatite formations that intruded into the crystalline basement rocks of the Ukrainian Shield approximately 1.7-2.0 billion years ago. These pegmatites formed during the late stages of granitic magma crystallisation, when volatile-rich fluids concentrated elements like fluorine and aluminium, essential components for topaz formation.
The topaz formed under high-temperature conditions (400-600°C) in fluorine-rich environments within the pegmatite cavities, often associated with other pegmatitic minerals such as Quartz, Feldspar, Muscovite Mica, and occasionally Beryl.
