Fluorite is a Calcium Fluoride mineral that forms in a wide range of colours, including purple, green, blue, yellow, and clear. Its name is derived from the Latin word fluere, meaning to flow, a reference to its use as a flux in smelting. This mineral commonly forms in hydrothermal veins, often associated with minerals like Quartz and Galena. It is frequently found in cubic or octahedral crystal shapes, with banded patterns or zones of colour.
